Manifesto is our extra virgin olive oil, produced from the 12,000 olive trees we tend on land confiscated from organised crime in San Vito dei Normanni (BR).

We have reclaimed 35 hectares of olive groves from abandonment through soil regeneration practices, polyconic vase pruning, and organic treatments on the plants.

Manifesto extra virgin olive oil has a medium-bodied, well-structured flavour. Its bitter and spicy notes, whilst present, are well-balanced, giving the oil a pleasant, lingering taste.

Chemical analyses show not only that the values are well below the legal limits required for the Extra Virgin category, but also that the levels of polyphenols and vitamin E are so high that our EVO oil can be classified as a ‘Nutraceutical Manifesto’.
What does this mean?

The term ‘nutraceutical’ is a portmanteau of the words ‘nutrition’ and ‘pharmaceutical’, and refers to a food that not only nourishes but also has positive effects on health and the prevention and treatment of diseases.

The minimum levels of active ingredients that nutraceutical oil must contain are regulated by EU Regulation 432/2012. In nutraceutical extra virgin olive oil, the beneficial substances are: polyphenols (which help protect blood lipids from oxidative stress) and vitamin E ‘alpha-tocopherol’ (which protects the body’s cells from oxidative damage), both of which are antioxidants as they protect us from the free radicals responsible for fat-related cancers (breast and colorectal cancer).

Manifesto extra virgin olive oil contains 9 mg of vitamin E (the minimum requirement is 2.5 mg) and 7.6 mg of polyphenols (the minimum requirement is 5 mg) per 20 g of oil.
